Snow, Snow, and More Snow

All 3 sledding at the same time
As soon as we got the sleds out, Brooklyn plopped down and said, "Go!"
Just a picture of our house during its first winter. We love all this snow!!!

Okay, so none of her snow gear matches, but isn't she cute anyway?!
Brenden with his "cheese"y smile!
Yeah, we play on the swing set in winter. We still are looking forward to spring.

The ritual snow angel.

I am VERY happy to see that someone else sends their children out in non-matching attire, I was starting to feel all alone in the world.

You guys actually make the snow look... fun. Our houses are way too close here, there's just no where to go on a sled. :(

Your kids are still cute. I was beginning to wonder since you REFUSE to send me pictures in the mail! ;) Love you.

Love the pictures, love the house! Congratulations! I know you are all sick of the cold, but I'm really jealous to see such beautiful snow!

I read on Kelly's blog that you had your kids potty trained at young ages...I was wondering if you could give me some tips on what you did. I got Robbie a potty chair when he was 18 months and he used it for a while, then quit using it altogether. He started using it again when he turned 2, and he'll pee in it every now and then but he will not poop in it. I don't really know what I'm doing....what are some things you did?

Kara- I know what you mean. We moved from a sub and it seemed like so much work to get the kids ready just to... walk around the yard. We are LOVING country living!!!

Korey- I am really sorry. I will send you pictures, I promise. That's the down side to digital cameras... no incentive to get pictures developed.

Traci- I am coming to realize that the earlier you potty train, the easier it is. Once the child gets to a certain age, its seems more like a battle of the wits between mommy and child. I have seen VERY young kids potty trained, so it is possible. In the beginning, you are the one being trained and eventually the child catches on. At first I set my kitchen timer and every 30 minutes we would sit on the potty and read a potty book or sing a song. Eventually you will catch them and they will go in the potty. (Give them lots to drink to create more opportunities)I also put them in regular cloth training pants and there are a lot of accidents at first, but that is how they learn the difference between wet and dry (diapers are so good at keeping them dry). When they wet, I let them feel their pants and try to teach them that its wet and yucky. And I also let them feel their dry pants and say "dry and clean". I gave 2 M&Ms for going on the potty and all I talked about ALL day was going potty like a big boy/girl and staying dry. I also basically follow them around all day and watch their cues very closely and you will quickly be able to tell when they have to go. It sounds like a lot of work, and it is (more than changing a few diapers a day), but it doesn't last long and it is worth it.

I would buy the book.

Yeah, I'm wordy, but I don't think its book worthy.

Kim,
I don't think Jenny and Kara were telling you to write a book because you're "wordy." I think they were suggesting you write a book about potty training! ha ha

Thanks Kim! Wow you were very patient. Robbie is doing a lot better now. He is going all nby himself to the potty now. We'll be watching tv and he'll just get up and walk in the bathroom and go. We know what he's doing, but we don't say anything, and then when he's done he comes out, beaming and his little underwear around his ankles, and announces that "Robbie peed." Then we make a huge fuss. :) He even holds it all night. Thanks for your help! :)

Traci, Congrats!!! That's exciting and very impressive that he's independent enough to go by himself already. Very cute!!!
